Eco-design: reducing impact from the design stage

Eco-design aims to reduce a product's environmental impact from the design stage, across its entire life cycle. It is the most powerful lever for lowering a product's footprint.

Choose low-carbon materials, reduce quantities, extend lifespan, ease repair and recycling, optimise transport and end of life. A life cycle assessment (LCA) identifies the priority levers.
