Decarbonisation plan: from measurement to action
A carbon assessment is only valuable if it leads to a reduction plan. Here is how to turn measurement into results.
Prioritise the items
Focus the effort on the largest emitting items (often Scope 3: purchases, freight, use). The Pareto principle applies: a few items account for most emissions.
Set targets
Set a 1.5 °C-aligned target (SBTi), broken down into annual milestones (about -4.2%/year). Quantified, dated targets make the plan credible.
Track and adjust
Measure each year, compare to the previous year, adjust actions. UltraCarbon displays the pathway and multi-year tracking to steer over time.
Frequently asked questions
Where to start?
With a reliable assessment. Without measurement, you cannot prioritise or prove progress. Start with the major items, even if estimated, then refine.
How long until results?
Some actions (energy, mobility) deliver quick gains; decarbonising Scope 3 takes longer and requires engaging suppliers.
